With years of experience in the challenging place where sustainable data management and program evaluation meet, there are many opportunities to support programs focused on making the change we want to see in our communities.

Avalon Baldwin is an experienced consultant and the founder of Curious Evaluation. After five years of independent consulting, Avalon decided to establish Curious Evaluation as a collaborative space that not only continues their consulting work but also provides openly available resources for self-initiated capacity development.
Since 2014, Avalon has worked on a diverse range of projects with various organizations, gaining a wealth of experience. Her work has primarily focused on programs that provide resources and case management to underserved groups, particularly in higher education. Avalon has worked with programs that serve first-generation college students, facilitate the transfer of California Community College students to Historically Black Colleges or Universities, and provide education services to incarcerated individuals enrolled while in prison.
Throughout their career, Avalon has undertaken projects such as transitioning program data to Salesforce, improving data management systems to align with organizational goals, and analyzing interventions for their impact. She approaches the development of systems by accounting for the experiences of the individuals served by the program while considering the organization's internal capacity for data collection and utilization. This approach ensures that data tools are effective and support productive evaluation.
Following a few years of data management focused work, they pursued a graduate degree in Evaluation & Applied Research Methods at Claremont Graduate University. Avalon brings a strong academic foundation to their work both formally and through personal edification. Her commitment to social justice, cultural competence, and data-driven methodology has inspired the establishment of Curious Evaluation as a consulting collective that aims to make a positive impact through her work and by providing accessible resources for capacity development.
